Story

Our story…

Family is the grounding center of our Vietnamese culture. This value was strongly emphasized by our father, Huynh Van Moi and mother, Le Duong Thi Bon. The foundation of our family binds our nine siblings, especially during the journey of our immigration to the United States in 1979. As siblings we immigrated from Vietnam on boats to Indonesia and eventually to the United States. Through the challenges of learning a new language and culture, our bond was strengthened by the comfort of sharing home cooked meals that brought an essence of home in a foreign land. Over the past few decades, we have been honored to call Portland our home. We have grown as a family to become enriched with the culture of Portland, while remaining true to our Vietnamese identity. Our family’s mission at Pholandia is to share aspects of Vietnam and Portland through home-cooked styled meals that empower, embrace, and strengthen the diverse culture within the community.
